One thing I knew for sure is that I did not want a traditional vanity in my new powder room.  What I didn't know is how hard it would be to find a piece of furniture that would accomodate a sink, be the right height, and fit into the 42" space allowed by the plan. I'm pretty familiar with the shops that sell used furniture and I hit them all. One of these shops might have that piece next week or next month but I was not waiting until they did. I was ready to go now. I finally found this piece that was scheduled for an auction.  I could have waited 3 days for the auction and possibly gotten it for less....or more, depending.  But I had a bird in the hand and I was not going to risk it. People who know me also know that before they dispose of a window,door, or cabinet, commit a light fixture to the dumpster, or pitch a piece of furniture; they need to check with me first.  It is not unusual to arrive home to find a piece of something on my deck that wasn't there when I left.  I have been surprised with a pair of french doors, shutters, 3 matching chairs, an old radio cabinet, and a round oak pedestal table.  And all that has been recently. Here is a little surprise that arrived via my brother.  This chandelier had been removed from a house before the tearout process began.  It was then stored in a garbage can and placed in a garage.  Over time it was buried under other salvaged items and resurfaced recently during a purging of said garage.  This is where I enter the picture.
