After a couple tries, the light fixture is up and secure. However, I goofed and got the "daylight" bulbs by mistake. The other light fixture came with tiny pronged bulbs with a yellow glow. So back to store to exchange them. Still no pulls on the drawers.
Good news! The replacement shower head and related parts arrived and are installed.
A few weeks have slipped by and I forgot where I left off with the bathroom remodel. Out of town company one week put things on hold and then another week just slipped by because the crew was working elsewhere. Nothing major has happened but there are a few minor things that were not in the last post, so I'll pick up there.
This little cabinet that I bought for the bathroom needed a paint job.
I started by sanding and cleaning it. As you can see the top section is on hinges and flips up for storage of smaller items.
There is a slightly recessed area in the flat surface. I'm still thinking about what to put there. Right now I've added a piece of fabric but that probably won't be permanent. The whole top will be covered with glass. I'll show that later.
The drawers have some quirky little compartments that are removable, Once I figure out how this cabinet will be used I can decide whether they stay or not.
One drawer has a not-so-secret compartment held in place by a large spring. For the life of me I can't figure out it's purpose. The entire bottom of that drawer slides out. There is a section about the size of the one to the right here with the circle cutout, That one has a lid that slides in (no cutout) and it has a large spring attached to the underside. The front of the drawer forms one side and a slide in piece forms the other side. Because the spring takes up most of the room inside the boxed in area, it doesn't make any sense to me as to what the motivation was to create it.
I think this is part primer and part base coat at this point. I didn't get many pictures as I was rushing to finish this before company arrived. I enlisted a couple of the male relatives to carry it upstairs while they were here. So, the rest of the pictures will be after the hardware was painted and the body of the piece was also finished, (well, except for a few touch ups that still need to be done.)
I chose SW Peppercorn to pick up the darkest color in the tile. If you remember those pulls were gold, and although I believe in mixing metals, it didn't work for me here. So, with a little spray paint they are now chrome.
I had a piece of glass cut for the top and put the "place holder" fabric under it until something comes along that I really want to go there.
With the right light bulbs I can now show this fixture with the lights on. I didn't realize I was cutting off one of the shades. If you scroll to the top you can see there are a total of four which is a nice balance over the two mirrors.
I wish there was more to show but that's it until things start happening again.
