Today is Friday the 13th of December and, I'm happy to report, a good day to end a productive week on the project that seemed destined to be remembered as the unlucky endeavor. Seems that moniker can be dropped.
Dan worked on closing the gap between the first and second levels.
See how tight that gap is now. Thanks to some real decent weather for December, Dan got most of the structure painted.
He also got all the wiring for the lighting and the AC and heating unit completed.
Holiday activities took over and I let the blog post take a backseat. It's now Dec. 31st and I'm determined to close out the year with this post. Here is what has been accomplished from where I left off.
Insulation and drywall after the electrical inspection.
Dan had a little help with the ceiling but managed the walls himself. I negleted to get a picture of him strapping the drywall and pulling it up to the second level.
New gutter and downspout installed. And that's it for this year. So long 2019.
Overhang was installed and painted and the corner column was wrapped.
No trim on the column but it's ready and should go up next week.

A visit from my grandsons to check the progress. The other grandson is taking the picture so not in the shot.
Threshold and decking boards were somewhat labor intensive due to leveling and other tedius hangups.
Column is trimmed out and...
given a first coat of paint.
Exterior lights are hooked up on either side of the double doors.
These are the same fixtures that were on the open deck...just a fresh coat of spray paint and good as new.
Half column is underway.
Met with Randy the railing guy and showed him the railing design. So getting this half column completed is on the top of the list to be sure we have accurate measurements before the construction of the railing begins.
This is the drawing for the short side.
I couldn't resist a bit of holiday decoration even though it had to be taken down several times to allow Dan room to work.
Just another view for the record. Once the partial walls go up, I won't be able to get this shot again.
