On The Upswing

After the last post, it seemed a good idea to do a follow up post to report that things are moving along nicely.

This shot was taken before the remodel started.  The door at the end of the hallway leads into the bath now being remodeled.

This is where the changes started.  The trim is off the doorway and the door opening will be enlarged to the width of the hallway.

This shot taken of that same area now looks like this.  By closing the entrance from the hallway, that bathroom will now be the master bath by keeping the entrance from the bedroom only.

This is how it looks from the bathroom side.  the door on the left leads to the hallway and the one on the right into the bedroom.

Now it looks like this.  Part of the hallway has become part of the bathroom.  This is where the vanity will be installed.  The partial doorway you see on the right leads to the bedroom.

Turning 180 degrees and looking across the room to the opposite corner, you see the window and the end of the claw foot tub.  Note that the window is quite close to the corner of the room which presented problems for using that corner for just about anything.

  The current plan is to install a 6 ft. tub/shower along the wall with the cutout seen here.  Obviously the tub will extend about halfway into where the window was located.

When I get to the part about what is going on the other side of this window, you will understand the reasoning for closing up this window.  But, you will have to wait for another post for that.

All this is history.  

Not a pretty sight here but it will be soon.  The shower head and spout end of the tub will be in this corner.

This corner of the room won't change much.  The door will be altered to swing out instead of inward and the transom window will disappear.

More details on this area in a future post.

Changes are being made in the ceiling to accommodate an exhaust fan, a light over the tub and an overhead light closer to the center of the room.

 At this point everything starts to look a little scary.  By the next post things should be starting to take shape and this will once again seem like a good idea.
