Therapy Room Wrapup

Since this was now going to be a room in which I watched television, I would definitely need an ottoman. It took a little looking but I found this one at Value Village.  It had a matching chair and the two were priced at $10.  They agreed to sell just the ottoman for $5.  The fabric swatch is from Hobby Lobby.  I needed something that worked with my floral chairs and because they are predominately a dark shade of purple, that is what I was looking for.  This vinyl swatch looked like it would fit the bill. (40% off with coupon cinched the deal.) I also liked the fact that it had a goldish tan thread creating a crisscross diamond  pattern.  This color tied it even better to the chairs and the pattern kept it from being a big purple blob in the middle of the floor. Last night I watched a movie with my feet elevated and it was downright comfortable. There is one other piece I haven't mentioned that deserves ...

Organized???

I have lived by the philosophy, "I rather get it done than get it organized."  Like most everyone, I was busy and when it wasn't a "have to" busy it was a "want to" busy.  And even though I would rate myself a 4 or 5 on an organizational scale, I had a fairly good memory and a big house, so I could afford organized clutter.  Now that I have less demands on my time, I am sorting and arranging all that clutter.  My main reason:  I want related things in one place so I can avoid trips to the garage, the basement, and the third floor when I am in the middle of a project. Enough explanation.  I started with the room that has many names...office, craft room, media center and, well, storage.   This piece I moved from another room.  It was under utilized and the perfect place to start my mission. It has 3 pull out drawers behind the doors on the bottom right.  I used the top one for rubber stamps.  (no hunting, digging or wonderin...

Burlap Curtains

I am reaching back a bit with this post.  In the warmer months of 2012 I made curtains for my office/craft/media room.  I had high expectations that I could whip this room into shape and give you a complete beginning to end post, so I held off talking about the curtains.  If I wait any longer they will be out of vogue and no longer a pertinent post. Purple burlap?  Not in the beginning. I started with about 14 yards of burlap from JoAnn's. (purchased with a 40% off coupon, of course.) I taped off large horizontal stripes that were reduced by an inch or two as they progressed towards the top. (somehow I came to the conclusion this was a good way to divide the height measurement...too long ago now to remember my reasoning.)  I used a roller to speed things up and keep from getting a dry edge and overlapping. I let one stripe dry before moving on to the next section.  Unless you have a really large surface to lay out the entire piece...
