A couple of ideas floated to the top and merged recently when I happened upon some old boxes at a sale on a city parking lot.
I had been hoping to find something like these for awhile. They had been gradually jockeying for position on that mental shopping list. I knew it wouldn't be long before they appeared. I picked up six for $2. The
price may have been influenced by the 100 degree temperature and close to the same humidity level. A large amount of "stuff" had been hauled from somewhere onto this lot and someone was going to have to put it all back if it didn't sell. (Yes, of course, I bought a couple other things too... later post.)
I had also been scoping out ways to use my left over chalkboard paint.
I had used a tiny bit to paint the writing surface of this desk so I had a lot left over.
I also painted my very old almond colored refrigerator to bring it up to date with the rest of my appliances. That worked out great. I only had to paint the doors because it sits in a little closet of it's own and no one sees the sides or the top. So again....very little paint.
I started to see more and more ways to use this nifty idea.
This is one of my favorites and I saved this ages ago but did not think to copy the link. Mea culpa, mea culpa. I love the whole pantry idea here and hope to copy it in my new place soon.
These two are recent discoveries and the full tutorial can be found here.
Another cute idea from another blogger.
Is it obvious I'm practicing setting up my links? Check this.
No link here because I can't find it again but...not sure how practical this would be for a backsplash over the stove but it looks great in the photo. Thank you whoever you are for sharing.
Remember the boxes from the beginning? I didn't forget either. Some of the writing on the boxes was just too cute.
Way too cute to paint over so....
I painted the sides where there was no writing. Works for me!
Now I can fill them all sorts of things and change the labels to match.
How many uses can you think of for these charming boxes?
Wouldn't these be cute in that lovely pantry I showed earlier?
I'm sure these versitile little gems will appear somewhere in a later blog. Keep an eye out.
