Arhaus to Mihaus

Approximately three years ago I wrote a short post about an unexpected delivery that showed up at my studio.  Feel free to refresh your memory on what I discovered here . That "knock-knock" now sits in my newly decorated living room.  I have done absolutely nothing to  them yet.  They blend in nicely although one does need a teeny bit of upholstery cleaner on the cushion.  But, on to my point.  Why do I bring this up now? Because today I received the Arhaus annual sale catalog in the mail.  The cover features this lovely chair on sale for $1599 ...marked down from $2199.   Well that so made my day!  You see, I have two of these in my living room and all because someone else thought they were ugly.     And...because Arhaus is my absolute favorite *store...well, that made it perfect.    *That means it's where I go to drool and dream of getting locked in for the night.  My regular readers know full well where I actually shop....any where from the al

BIG RED

This is without a doubt the most expensive piece of furniture I have in the house.  It is an entertainment center by Baker.  I bought it many years ago at a Baker outlet store called Baker's Odds and Ends...now closed.  It sold for about 1/2 the price it would normally sell for. I guess because it had a few minor defects and, I always thought, because it was large and it was RED.  At that time not something most people were looking for.   I liked it then and still do. However, it is not a piece you move from room to room, and the room it is in is now my bedroom.  Even though it is three stacked pieces, each piece is extremely heavy on it's own.      This goes back several years when this was the "Tuscan TV Room."  Now the faux finishes are gone and this is my bedroom.  I am finally getting around to decorating this room and the faded red is not going to dictate my color scheme. The cabinet was moderately distressed when I bought it.  There is a faint y

A Chance to Compare

I decided to do a simple before and after of the foyer and stairway before putting this project to rest. Not the exact same angle.    Here is a view with a slight shift to the left.  Here is the before of the left side. The wall behind the chair has nothing on it now and I rather like it that way. Should I find just the right thing, I have a spot for it.  Here is a close up of the previous mantel. And here is the current look. I had this fishnet as a window treatment for the both the window and the door before this renovation. Now a drape of mid-century bark cloth hangs between the window and the door.     I really love these slipcovers with this chair.  However,   it was a bit much in this room, with this drape, so I chose this fabric instead.   One chair sits opposite each bookcase.     Rather cluttered, but still a before shot of the northeast corner.       The radiator sits in a small recess where it a
