Several days of above average temperatures has been very beneficial in moving the porch project along.
Dan started working on the half column so we would have an exact measurement before ordering the railing for the deck.
The column got a few coats of paint. Unfortunately, the pigeon poop didn't get power washed off the brick. That may have to be done in March or April.
Dan also put the trim around the doors and I gave the doors their third coat of paint.
Dan also got the band board on the edge of the decking.
Thanks to good weather, we were able to paint the trim. I got busy and forgot to document all this as it was happening. Can you believe it's January and we keep having above normal temperatures? That is certainly working in our favor or much of this would have to been put on hold for a couple months.
Dan decided to captilize on the nice weather and get the ceiling on the open deck. As we were making some final decisions on the layout, an unexpected delivery took precedence over our plans.
The deck railing arrived much earlier than expected.
This section of the railing was about 1/2 inch longer than it supposed to be, but Dan made some quick adjustments to the columns and saved the day.
Then it was back to working on the ceiling.
Looks a little crazy right now but stay tuned
There are trim pieces that will be added.
In case you missed an earlier post, these are cabinet doors Dan saved thinking some day he would find a use for them. This is that day!
The strips of wood that form the transoms on the first floor windows are on the inside of the windows. They were painted green to match the siding of the porch at the time they were installed. Now, with the color change of the siding, we are adding strips to the outside of the window in a color to match the siding.
Back to the ceiling for a moment or two. Dan and I were quite busy this week and I got a bit behind on the blog post.
But catching up now. Here's Dan painting that terrific looking ceiling.
It's hard to get a good shot of it without zooming in. I'll try to get a finished picture from below to end this post.
The strips across the windows are up and taped to hold until the silicone dries. This was absolutely the last good day we had so we took advantage and washed the windows too.
Just because I have it, here's a shot looking out at the new railing. Once again I'm behind on posting so I'm pressing the PUBLISH button and starting a new post on what has happened recently. More to come soon.
