If you read my post about tearing into four chairs at once, you will probably recognize these. I completed two of them and a third one is very close to being ready for the blog.
Somehow I neglected to snap a picture of this one before I removed the pads from the seat and back.
Use your imagination to place these on the stripped down chair above. This was an alley find and in good shape. It just needed updating.
I did a light sanding on the frame to remove the glossy coating and smooth any rough edges.
It was neutral enough to work with all the colors in the fabric I had selected. This looks a little juvenile here but I knew once it was on the chair it would be perfect.
I think it works well with this Danish Modern style.
It is now a mid-century modern chair that is FOR SALE. Yes, I'm doing some pieces to sell. I starting to realize I can't keep everything.
So that is chair #1. Chair #2 is also for sale.
I had this one in the basement and caught myself before I got too far into it without a picture. So please excuse the low light. I thought I could get a shot without carrying it into the daylight.
Although daylight didn't help this shot much. I intended to paint this one so a light sanding was all that was necessary.
And then I coated it three times with green paint. I followed that up with two coats of wax for a smooth protected finish.
The fabric I selected for this chair is reversible but I liked the side with less green showing.
Just one more shot that shows the upholstery up close.
There you have it. Isn't it a great feeling to complete something? I have so many projects in-the-works, that being able to post about something completed seems like a huge accomplishment. I'm close on some other things so stay tuned. This oval backed chair should be next.

Rather than paint this one, I decided to try a stain. I had the paint store do a custom mix with orangish tint and exterior deck stain.

That was followed by primer.

Another simple, fresh looking chair that would be great for a home office, guest room, or kitchen message center.
The pattern in the fabric is current and adds life to what was a tired and dated looking piece.

Those chairs are fantastic. I don't think I would have seen that much potential in their original state.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Heidi. I attempted to email you but got a message that there was a glitch in the setup. Might be blogger...it has been acting up for me today.
