 A little behind on the posting but I think I can get caught up with this post. I'm going to start with the ABC Challenge as I only have two of those. I left off last time with the letter K, so I have I for you and I just finished M today! The prompts for L are: Lilac, Light, Layers and Lighthouse . I probably should have used something different to place behind the card while I took the picture. Sometimes I just grab something that is handy. It is hard to notice but the lilacs in the top right corner do extend past the card. The land and the lighthouse was a bigger picture on a larger page so I tore strips from top to bottom and then left some out and worked to create a coherent landscape from what was left. It actually worked out much better than I thought it would. Those strips are my layers. The light next to the woman is an addition. I added the lilac stamp for the color and the lilacs at the top to fulfill that prompt.  The letter M has prompts of Music, Mexico, Mail a...

 I have three new circular collages to share in this post. Not one of my favorites for sure. I thought the prompts were interesting and were easy enough to fit inside the circle. However it is missing a strong focal point.  The prompts are: 1. Pattern with contrasting colors (red/green paper behind pocket) 2. Something sharp or pointed (cheddar cheese) 3. Old library card  or catalog entry (I had a card pocket from a library book) 4. snippet of a handwritten recipe 5. Clipping of a meaningful or mysterious phrase 6. Bonus: something gray or silver (foil wrapper as background) This one is super simple but it covers the prompts. I have decided I am going to start another challenge for myself using the same cwp prompts but on a rectangular (possibly 5x7) substrate. Sometimes the 4" circle is just too confining. I have ideas that I think work great with the prompts but find it impossible to make them work in this format. 1. An image of something being held 2. A pair of glasse...

 I will start with the ABC Challenge as I just finished one of those today. But let's begin with the letter I. A pretty simple looking project but it still took a while. I mixed some paint to create an indigo color for the sky. Next I insert ed paper between the mullions in the window. It so happened that I had the church cutout from another project and the icicles hanging from the roof covered the ice  prompt I did add some glitter to them although it is difficult to see in the photo. The last prompt is a little weird. Since I always add the letter to the card, I used one that is one inch  tall. Now for the letter J that I just completed. The prompts are jewel, jam, jazz and jewelry . This card seems a little simple and it was anything but. The four piece band is a photo of a metal sculpture I have hanging in my foyer.  You may remember, this challenge consists of five prompts plus a bonus prompt. I listed the prompts because some of the collages seem a little wacky unless you know what the prompts are.  So here we go with #15                   1.   Today I have three of the Full Deck playing cards and two of the ABC challenge collages to show you. The prompts for #13 in the Full Deck Challenge are crazy colors with black markings. I saw another participant had used things like a blue apple for her crazy colors. That was clever. There are so many takes on interpreting the prompts and that's what makes viewing other people's cards so interesting. Number 14 in this challenge has the simple prompts of  turquoise and staples.   I found a rustic set of double doors in a magazine that were a beautiful shade of turquoise.  However, in order to use them, they had to be cut way down and even then they covered the entire card. I decided the only way I could use them was if they opened. I covered the back side of the doors with background paper from a magazine and stenciled them with black paint to create the lattice design.  I have two new Full Deck Challenge cards to post today. They are #11 and #12. Both lived up to the word "challenges" especially #12. But that's the purpose of the project. I just didn't realize it applied to every aspect from the concept, to the planing,to the techniques and especially the execution. The prompt for this one was black & white with a splash of color and stencil or texture paste. If you are wondering about the number 10 in the upper right corner, that was one of the screw ups. This is actually #11. I decided on the gauzy overlay with black sequins at the last minute. I had already added some black dots as one of my items brought forward and the sequins overlapped some of the dots. My constant color is Magenta. The texture paste fulfilled the texture paste prompt.
